Intensive Portuguese 111/112-3 is the third quarter of audio-lingual course in Portuguese language for the intermediate -low learner. It is designed to cover the content of the traditional second year language in order to bring the students to the level of intermediate -mid to intermediate-high oral proficiency in accordance with ACTFL proficiency guidelines.

Topics in Advanced Portuguese Development of competence in reading, speaking, and writing. Readings focus on Brazilian historical, cultural, and sociopolitical structures. Prerequisite: 202 or equivalent.

Reading and Writing Portuguese Instruction in reading and writing expository and narrative prose. Emphasis on vocabulary, linguistic skills, and syntax appropriate to formal written Portuguese. Prerequisite: 111-3/112-3 or placement examination.

Accelerated audiolingual study of the Portuguese language for beginners. The equivalent of two years of unaccelerated language courses. Concurrent registration in 111 and 112.
