World.Wine.Web. Nov. 15: Electronics in Class
Electronics in Class — Beyond the Anecdotes
Join us at our next World.Wine.Web. event. Sara Broaders (Psychology) and Michael Smutko (Astronomy) will present results from their multi-year study of how laptops and other electronics affect student learning in lecture classes.
Two studies will be discussed: 1) comparisons between different sections of the same courses in which some sections are permitted to use electronics and other sections in which electronics are completely banned. 2) Experimental sessions in which smaller groups of students (some using electronics and others without) listen to the same lecture and then take quizzes based on the lecture material.
Wednesday, October 30, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
